West Point Graduate

Brian Bergen grew up in West Caldwell and earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. He graduated and commissioned as an Army officer, and the Academy's standard of duty, honor and country has shaped everything since.

Combat Veteran

Brian served eight years in the Army, flying the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and commanding a company. He deployed to Iraq and left the Army as a Captain. He remains active in the veterans community as a leader in the Morris County American Legion and the VFW, and he has been the Legislature's loudest voice demanding accountability for the state's veterans homes.

Small Business Owner

Back home, Brian earned an MBA from Rutgers Business School and a master's degree in administration of justice and security from the University of Phoenix. He owns and operates A&B Stainless Valve, a New Jersey manufacturing business, and knows firsthand what the state's taxes, mandates and red tape do to employers trying to keep jobs here.

From Denville to Trenton

Brian served on the Denville Township Council from 2017 to 2019 and as vice chairman of the zoning board before being elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 2019. He took office in January 2020 and has been re-elected three times. In January 2024 his colleagues elected him Republican Whip.

In Trenton, Brian has built a reputation as the member who says what others won't. He has introduced legislation to eliminate legislator salaries and highway tolls, fought to hold the administration to the surplus requirements written into state law, and called out committees that cancel meetings while New Jersey loses jobs. He and his wife Kristin live in Denville with their two children.
